Arty Potz

Today we took Tom to 'ArtyPotz' in Southsea to do some pottery painting as it was so cold outside and we didn't feel like walking. Tom has been here many times and we are very loyal customers. It is a lovely environment for Tom as it is very quiet and he is always very relaxed here. The staff are always so friendly and they know Tom very well now.

ArtyPots always ensure that Tom has enough room and he has everything he needs. They are always on hand to help us if we need them. Today Tom painted a coaster for his bedroom. He designed a lion using his handprint and then I did the finishing touches for him! Tom also made a mug for his Mummy! Tom used his hands again and made a beautiful mug!

Tom loves the sensory experience of painting with his hands and he find the brushing very relaxing. The owners of ArtyPotz (Matt and Penny) never rush us and they give us as much time as we need with Tom. We like to make it a calm and relaxing trip for Tom.

There are are so many different colour paints and we can let Tom choose what colours he would like to use. They have all sorts of brushes and sponges so it is accessible to everybody no matter what your ability (tom loves using his hands and his feet). If you are stuck for ideas Matt and Penny will help you think of ideas as they have tons of experience ad knowledge.

Once we have finished painting, Tom enjoys a warm hand wash (it has to be warm!) and then he likes to sit back and relax and watch us clean up! Artypotz always have lovely calm relaxing music on in the back ground and we enjoy listening to this and taking it all in! It is a very mindful activity and somewhere that is perfect of a rainy or cold day!
