Cornflake Cakes

As the weather is beginning to turn Tom and I are looking at doing activities in the warmth at home! Today we decided to make cornflake cakes. This turned out to be very messy but a lot of fun!

I introduced Tom to the dry cornflakes first and let him play and explore them. This got super messy and both Tom and the floor were covered in crushed up cornflakes. We spoke about how they sounded and how they felt. Tom seemed to really enjoy this and he had lot of fun.

Whilst Tom was playing with the dry cornflakes I melted the chocolate. Once the chocolate was melted I let Tom take in the smell before together we mixed in the cornflakes.

We used Cadbury chocolate, this melts the best and I find that it gives off the best aroma for Tom.

We then mixed in the dried cornflakes and Tom loved the sound of the cornflakes all mixing together! We mixed and mixed....and mixed unit all of the cornflakes were covered.

I placed Tom's hands on the side of the bowl whilst I was mixing so he could feel the vibration coming off the bowl.

Once the cornflakes were all mixed then Tom and I worked together to put the mixture into cake cases. This was interesting as I was scooping and each time I tried to put the mixture into the bowl, Tom decided to move the cases!

It got pretty messy. Eventually we got there with very little chocolate on Tom's hands. We had made lots of yummy looking chocolate cakes and it was so simple to do. Tom's room smelt amazing and it was a lovely little sensory activity to do together.

I can confirm that the chocolate cornflake cakes tasted just as good as they looked. Tom is a very good baker!
