High School Musical...

Yesterday Tom and I went to The Kings Theatre, in Southsea to see 'Mayville High School Presents, High School Musical'. WOW what a show.

Tom and I haven't been to the theatre in a little while and decided that High School Musical would be something that Tom would enjoy. This production was put on and performed by a local Southsea school, Mayville High School.

Tom and I were so impressed. As many of you know Tom is a regular to the theatre and he sees al kinds of different shows. This show did not disappoint.

Firstly, we want to congratulate each and every single actor and actress that stood on that stage and performed. It takes huge bravery to get out there and perform to an audience of that size in such a grand theatre, you all held your own and performed beautifully.

I have never seen Tom watch the stage so much. I think the combination of the music, dancing and the fact that it was children performing and so it had a real sense of fun, made it the perfect show for Tom. He was smiling and laughing so much!

The show was very well done, it stayed very true to the film and the actors and actresses were great at portraying the humour. There was so much quality singing, and fabulous dancing. You can see the children all had a real blast on that stage. They made us want to get up there with them!

The leads, Gabriella and Troy were unbelievable. They both could sing, dance and act just like any professional. Gabriella's singing was out of this world. For a girl so young to already have a voice like that whilst standing in front of that many people is so wonderful to see. Her voice certainly captured Tom! I couldn't believe that the young boy playing Troy was acting. He was able to portray so many different emotions and he played the character so true to form.

Tom and I will be keeping an eye out for more shows performed by Mayville High School as we had such a wonderful time! We didn't want it to finish. The school should be very proud of all the students that stood on that stage, also those who ran the backstage. The transitions were well done, the show ran just as any professional show would.

Unfortunatley the show is no longer running, but keep your eyes peeled for more shows from Mayville!
