Hotel Transylvania 3

Tom and I went to the cinema to see 'Hotel Transylvania 3'. This was a new thing for Tom, he had been to the cinema with his parents when he was much younger but he apparently just slept. This time I took Tom and he loved it!

We went to one of the local cinemas near us, Odeon Port Solent. I chose this one for Tom after much research on the wheelchair friendliness of the other local cinemas. Most of the near cinemas sat people in wheelchairs right at the front near the screen. This wouldn't be much fun for Tom as he wouldn't be able to see the whole screen and it was also cause us to get neck cramp! The Odeon in Port Solent sat Tom right at the back in a small screen and the section for his wheelchair was cordoned off so no-one could knock into the chair.

The staff at the cinema couldn't be more helpful! they were super friendly and helped wherever they could. I was concerned about Tom's medical equipment lighting up and they said that it is nothing to worry about! They also didn't mind me using my phone to check the times for feeds ect. This put us at ease right away and we felt very relaxed and comfortable.

The movie was great and Tom found it very funny. Tom watched the screen so intently right till the end, he was even a little cross when he had to leave! It is so lovely to find another thing we can do with Tom that is stress free and a lot of fun. It is also great as it is coming up to winter so as the weather gets worse we have ways to get out and about.

If you are worried about taking a child in a wheelchair to the cinema just give them a call. Most of them are super friendly and in our case we got a free carer ticket. It was a lovely day out we will definitely be going again.
