Painting with Butter Beans

It seems unusual to use butter beans to paint with but it came about in a very funny kind of way.
The previous day Tom and I had tried playing with butter beans whilst Tom was in his standing frame. He was very against this. I thought maybe he had an issue with the butter beans as he was getting very cross with them. He was even cross when he wasn't touching them but they were on his tray. Once I took them off he was completely fine and calm again.

I saved the butter beans and thought I would try them on his feet the next day. Instead of using the butter beans for messy play with Tom's feet I thought maybe I would cover them in paint and see if Tom would be happy to play this way. It worked!
Tom explored the butter beans beautifully whilst they were covered in paint. I didn't know whether it was because the texture had changed or if it as just Tom being funny and cheeky the day before. The painting came out really well and the butter beans made it easier for Tom to spread the paint across the page.
Before covering the butter beans in paint I dried them out a little using kitchen towel as I didn't want the juice to mix in with the paint. We had a lot of fun and I was super surprised with Tom's reaction the second time round.
It just shows you should give things a try more than once. Just because Tom doesn't like something one day it doesn't mean that he won't like it the next day. He is a very funny little Chappy and keeps me on my toes all the time!
Happy anniversary!! What a happy team you two make!!! Lots of love, and here’s a balloon from across the seas 🎈🌟
