Pink Play

Last week Tom and I decided to have a pink play kind of day! I wanted to do something that would entertain Tom for a longer period of time. I thought the best way of doing this was to mix two different activities together.

I started off the activity with Marshmallow Fluff. This stuff is great, it is very sticky, stretchy and is a very messy play activity. Tom enjoys playing with Marshmallow Fluff. To begin with Tom was unsure of it as it is very sticky and almost 'suffocating' to the hands. By using the 'hand under hand' (see link below) technique Tom is becoming so much more confident with the fluff and most of the time he is happy to explore independently. The hotter your hands get the softer the fluff becomes and therefore it is easier to play with. You can find Marshmallow fluff in most supermarkets. It comes in two different flavours, original and strawberry, we use the strawberry one so Tom can smell it.
I wanted to change the activity up as Tom can become bored with the same activity after too long. Sometimes he gets so used to it that it becomes so relaxing and then he doses off to sleep! I decided to stick with the pink theme and add some of Tom's crazy foam on top of Marshmallow Fluff. I thought that the crazy foam would be good as it is a contrast in texture. Marshmallow Fluff is heavy on the hands and crazy foam feels extremely light.
I sprayed the crazy foam on top of the marshmallow fluff and then Tom and I worked as a team to mix the foam in with the fluff. We created a big messy pink gloop...and it was so much fun! By changing up the activity I managed to keep Tom's interest. This meant that Tom was actually focusing on an activity for almost 40 minutes.
Tom and I had a lot of fun with activity. As always after the activity Tom got to wash his hands in warm water with a Body Shop bubble bar (see link below). Tom loves warm bubbly water so this makes him very happy.
