Slime.

I have seen slime around for a while now but I haven't yet managed to successfully make it! For Tom's birthday he got a 'make your own slime' kit. This was really great as Tom can make it himself and get super messy in the process rather than using the ready made pots of slime. We decided to explore it on a very cold snowy day, it really does make a great indoor, cold winter activity.

The slime kit has everything you need (other than water) this is awesome for us because we don't have to worry about going out to gather all of the equipment and ingredients. It also included very easy to follow instructions so we couldn't really get it wrong!

Tom and I set to work, Tom did the mixing of the ingredients and I measured out all of the ingredients. You are able to alter the instructions to make more slime if you want to, but we decided to follow the instructions exactly to make sure nothing went wrong!

Tom explored the glue first and got a little sticky before we mixed all of the ingredients together and ended up with slime. I got Tom to choose what colour slime he wanted to make by showing him the different colours and watching to see what colour he gazed at for the longest with. This is something new I am trying with Tom and so far it seems to be working very well.

Tom chose blue, so we added in the paint and then Tom mixed and mixed until it was all combined. As it shows glittery slime on the front cover Tom and I also decided to add some glitter and we used the blue glitter they provided. You could add any kind of glitter if you have your own at home. I'm sure you would also be able to add any colour paint to the slime, we are going to try and add scented paint next time!

The final part was to add the liquid that turns the gloopy glue mixture into slime. That was when the fun happened. I had to help Tom mix it at this point as it wasn't so easy to stir.

Tom then was able to play with the slime, he loved it! Tom played for a really good amount of time and we explored it with his fingers and up his arms. The great thing about slime is that once its made it isn't very messy. This made it easy for me to clean Tom up once he had had enough. Also this means that slime would be a great activity for those who may not have as much time as Tom and I do.

The slime can be stored in a airtight container so Tom can play again and again.

If you guys have made slime let us know your recipes. I have linked a few different slime kits that you could get hold of and give it a go, it is a lot of fun!
