The Kings Theatre

On Wednesday Tom and I went to see 'Peppa Pig's Adventure' at the Kings Theatre in Southsea. We have been to a few different theatres recently and they have all been amazing for wheelchair access and the staff have been so helpful and considerate of Tom's needs.

The Kings Theatre is no different. I saw the show advertised on their website only the day before so I wasn't sure if it would be too late to book a wheelchair space as they only have 3 or 4. I called at 10am on Wednesday morning and the lady was very helpful on the phone. We managed to get the best wheelchair space (U22 and U23 Stalls right) this space has the best view of the stage but also is the most protected from people walking past.

When we got to the Kings we picked up our tickets from the box office. They have a doorbell outside for those who can't use the stairs and they will bring the tickets out to you. This is really helpful for me because when I am on my own with Tom I can't get him up stairs.

We found our seats and enjoyed the show. It was a really fab show with the actors engaging with the audience. Tom loved the music and the dancing on stage and he watched every minute, he was even a little annoyed when the curtain came down at the interval!

The show itself was really great for all ages. It was particularly engaging for Tom as they used lots of clear bold colours they even used UV light on a black background so this really caught Tom's eye.

The Theatre staff were very considerate of Tom and kept checking that we had everything we needed and if there was anything they could do to help just to give them a wave.

The Kings Theatre has done a very good job in making it as accessible as it can be considering it is a listed building.We have already booked for "Madagascar the Musical' later on in the year, we will keep going back again and again as Tom has so much fun and it is so easy.

I would recommend the Kings Theatre, it is the perfect rainy day activity!
