On Wednesday Tom and I went to see the Monstersaurus as a Valentines day treat! The show was held at The Berry Theatre in Hedge end. We had never been to this theatre before so we weren't sure what the accessibility would be like. Thankfully we were very pleasantly surprised, The Berry Theatre was awesome!

When we arrived Tom was greeted straight away, they knew where Tom was going to sit and they told me that they would let us get in first so we could get settled. All the staff were on the same page so it all ran very smoothly. Once we got into the auditorium some of the actors from the play came out to greet all of the children. They spent a good amount of time with Tom, this was really lovely as it meant Tom wasn't bored waiting around for the play to begin.
The play itself was great, it was all about an inventor 'Monty' who loves to invent new things and now he has moved onto making Monsters. Unfortunately monsters aren't always nice and so he needs some help from someone a little bigger, that's when he invents the Monstersaurus! The play is full of songs and dancing and lots of audience interaction which Tom loves. The whole way through the play Tom watched and sung along, he was so happy and even after the show had finished we sung the songs and Tom kept smiling!
Tom had a really great view of the stage. The wheelchair spaces are only 4 rows back so this meant that Tom was able to clearly see the stage. This is something that older theatres aren't able to do.
The staff at The Berry Theatre are really very amazing. Each and every single one of them were there to help if we needed them. They ensured that Toms needs were always put first. Once the show had finished they came up to me and asked if there was anything they could do for Tom and I, but most importantly they asked Tom how he enjoyed the show. This was really lovely as often people talk to me about Tom rather than speaking to him themselves, Tom seemed to really enjoy engaging with the staff and it made the experience even better.
We would definitely go back to The Berry Theatre to see more shows. If you are in the local area keep you eye out for whats on, we might even see you there!
