Tom and I have been following a YouTube channel call SBSK (Special Books by Special Kids). This channel is revolutionary, it has done such wonders for the community of those who have additional needs.
The channel features Chris Ulmer, he is a wonderful man. he travels the world speaking with both children and adults who have additional needs. Chris's aims are to show that no matter what our differences, in our heart we are all the same and we all deserve love and acceptance. Through his videos he has been able to open a community chat, people who would normally have struggled to connect and be understood by the wider population are now able to speak with people and their voices are being heard, dreams and ambitions are understood and respected.

The channel also allows Chris to ask the questions that others want to ask but are too afraid, however Chris is very sensitive in the way he approaches everything. Sometimes his topics can be pretty heavy but the aim is always to show people that no matter whether someone is verbal, non verbal, physically able or a wheelchair user, you are still able to communicate and at the root of it, we are all just humans. Sometimes we may communicate a little different but that is what makes us all unique. Also our preconceptions can often be so very wrong. This is something I see a lot, people can talk over Tom or not realise that Tom is fully able to understand everything, he just needs people to listen in a bit closer, and give him some time to respond. We could all learn an awful lot from Tom, he adds to much extra value to all of our lives, he is the real pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
Recently YouTube has removed all the comments off of the videos, this therefore undoing all of the hard work Chris and his team have put in to give people their voice. On the comments section of the videos people would have lovely conversations, all comments were always positive and Chris seems to pride himself on having built such a wonderful community.
By removing everyones voices, this community has yet again been silenced. People have not only had their voices taken away, but the opportunity for others to reach out has also been taken away.
Tom and I work hard in our little community to teach people, that a 'Hello' can go a very long way, and we are looking into starting our 'Don't Stare, Say Hello.' campaign. We want this to be a world where everyone, is accepted and given the right to be listened to. YouTube is actively stopping this from happening on SBSK.
SBSK have created a petition in order to get their comments reinstated on their videos. Please take 2 minutes out of your time to sign this. Tom and I really believe that this channel is and will help so many people across the world.
